He'd listen to his grandmother Brenda filling the house with piano and song while Randy played guitar in the music room upstairs, a room lined wall to wall with guitars that quickly became Gavin's favorite place to explore. Before long, he was sitting beside his grandfather learning songs, sharing guitars, and discovering a lifelong love of music.
Today, that same connection is what audiences experience at every performance. Blending timeless classics with modern favorites, 2 Grand brings an intergenerational perspective to familiar songs, creating performances that feel both nostalgic and fresh. Whether they're playing a brewery patio, winery, wedding, festival, or private event, you'll often find them providing the soundtrack to Wisconsin summer evenings as friends and family gather, old fashioneds are muddled, and everyone sings along.
The name 2 Grand is a nod to both the duo's family relationship—two generations brought together by one shared passion—and a playful twist on the phrase "two grand." For Randy and Gavin, however, the real value has never been about money. It's about the opportunity to share music together, one performance at a time.
Gavin DeGier
Music has been part of Gavin DeGier's life for as long as he can remember. Raised alongside his grandfather's guitars and his grandmother's piano, he grew up learning by listening, playing, and performing with family long before taking the stage professionally. Along the way, his mother played a vital role in his development—driving him to music lessons every week and continually encouraging him to push himself and grow as a musician.
A multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and producer, Gavin studied Music Production through Berklee College of Music and performs on guitar, piano, violin, harmonica, and vocals. Outside of 2 Grand, he writes and records original music under his own name, with an album and multiple singles available on Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and other streaming platforms.
One of the most meaningful symbols of his musical journey is the tattoo on his forearm—a tribute to his grandfather's Taylor guitar, representing the instrument and the person who first inspired him to play.
